So, when I need a break from eBay, my research and the many papers surrounding my desk and desktop, I galavant through the Internet, visit blogs and think about how to employ marketing strategies to generate more traffic. Like I mentioned before, Dave Nicholson created this awesome program called ‘Total Web Traffic‘ and now that traffic becomes an even more important aspect of the entire package, I cannot get enough of his suggestions.

His plan is very well laid out in layman’s terms and I feel like a kid in a candy store (except, luckily you won’t find any sugar there to ruin your teeth). His ideas are well organized and easy to follow. You can pick-and-chose which allows you to personalize your approach and add marketing procedures when they are right for you. I thought it was a pretty good description of many people
online today.
An analogy of what people search for and spend money
on…

What I mean by that, is that most folk know that nuclear
fusion would be the greatest source of energy we could hope
for……

The only problem is that nobody has yet figured out how to
make it work!

Remind you of anyone?

Lets be honest for a moment -
So many sites seem to be promising us results that could
only be possible if we did understand nuclear physics, and
if nuclear fusion was actually a reality!

You and I know it’s not – but that doesn’t stop many many
people from continually searching and spending their cash on
systems supposedly incorporating the latest in nuclear
fusion technology……. (big laugh)

So given that we know it doesn’t exist what then…
Well we have to assume that standard electricity is the
next best thing….. or is it?

Can I assume that you know how to change a light bulb?

Maybe even how to wire a plug? (don’t panic – it’s just
an analogy)

But if I asked you to come round to my house and rewire the
place to incorporate dimmer switches to all rooms and have
the Hi-Fi routed from the main room through to all the
bedrooms with remote channel changing for each, then maybe
some spotlights to the garden and a few spare sockets for
extra entertainment devices both indoor and for external
use…. and lets not forget the rest of the household
appliances….well …..

I think at some point 95% of us would be shouting WHOA….

Sharply followed by a No Way – I’m not an electrician….I
was nervous enough changing the light bulb!!

And who could blame us?

How are we really supposed to know what’s safe and how it
all works?

To me that analogy is of the vast majority who know nuclear
fusion doesn’t exist, but who are struggling along with SEO,
Site Building, HTML, PHP, Social Networking etc. etc.

The list goes on and on….

Hey I’m sure some folk are qualified electricians, and
others are qualified at all the things needed to succeed on
the web.

But if we’re still being honest – 95% of people would
still be struggling wouldn’t they?

They’d be more like a new boyscout wondering how many
matches he had left to light the rain soaked twigs of his
campfire, eventually running out of matches and crying to
go home!

So what’s the solution?

Well I think it’s Candles.

So I got bored and called the one number I could find on the screen. Of course, a recorded voice answered and attempted to direct me back to where I came from: the Internet. Filled with determination, I  pushed a few numbers and low-and-behold reached the voice mail of Joe ‘Something’. Most certainly, he was not the right person for me to be calling for help, but I left a message anyway. It felt so good to explain my futile attempt to have the order page respond to me somehow to a silent stranger on the other end. I hung up wondering if he would laugh out loud about my pleading message.

As you know, later that day, all technical challenges got resolved and I (semi) started all over. Yet somehow, due to multiple loaded pages and attempts, I still wasn’t sure if in fact, I had persevered for sure! Now I know!

Two days later I received a call from Joe Jablonski – the very same Joe I had probably left one of the strangest messages for. He wanted to follow up and find out if I had resolved my problem. I was floored! He checked his data base on my behalf and yes, indeed, I would receive Mike Filesaime’s Butterfly Marketing course in the mail. We started to chat and it became clear to me that this kind of customer service reaches beyond all my expectations I previously had. It was truly an amazing experience, and I am following him now on Twitter and, which is truly inspiring, he follows me!

The traffic Mike had pre-generated was huge and couldn’t be handled by the server. In so many ways, it was a frustrating experience, yet at the same time, the hunt was on. There had to be a way to make it through the system somehow so that in the end, you could hold the course triumphantly in your hands! So, Mike and his team repaired the bumps-in-the road, brought everything back up to speed a few hours later, and those who waited around patiently were victorious in the end after all. Boy, I wish I had that kind of  traffic (without the crashes, of course) coming to my site

Now that you are reading the post, the 5000 free units are long gone, and many have a story to tell about how they persevered one way or another. If so many people wanted the course, it had to be good, no great, right? Yes, Mike’s marketing techniques certainly worked on me. Although I thought it might be a good plan to get the course for free and then look at it later, now I really wanted to find out what all the hype was about. Then I signed up with John Thornhill’s Masterclass and he urged us to choose D9 as our hosting company. Due to the fact that I still had not resolved my hosting issues with GoDaddy, I gladly signed up with D9 Hosting. There had to be a better way to figure this Internet stuff out, this much I knew!

From the very beginning, my experience was a good one: the ftp client worked, I had all of my log-in info and the sun started to shine (figuratively speaking) all day long on my blog. The Internet world had turned into a friendly place in which I actually managed to figure things out without an up-hill battle. So then of course, last week I decided to transfer my other website over to D9 Hosting, and without a doubt, this was the most marvelous experience all the way around.

Paula Brett (the incredible author of Operation eBook) and Dan Thompson are kind, patience and extremely knowledgeable. Believe me when I say, that the transfer was not an easy one! Like I said before, GoDaddy made sure we encountered a few boulders along the path destined to eventually lead me to freedom. Paula and Dan plowed through it all with ease and within a very short period of time, my hosting challenges had been put to rest. What astounded me most, was the fact that I received replies when you would expect them to be sleeping. Since I am located in the US and they are in the UK, we had an 8 hour time difference to overcome.

Additionally, you can host as many domains/websites as you wish on one account at no extra charge and they  transfer existing domains from another hosting company for free – beat that! The service is simply outstanding, and for my own part, I will host my domains with them … well, until the end.

Although you may feel that your current hosting company is doing a pretty fine job, I would still recommend for you to switch. It’s like drinking a bottle of wine … there is good wine and then there is excellent wine, and D9 Hosting is definitely a company of excellence!
